Newly appointed Sports and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Mohamed Rashid Echesa has received backing from Members of Parliament as part of establishing Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi today said the CS will perform as compared to those who have been in the ministry for a long time, speaking too much English but their record is negative.
“I want to say this, recently we were given new CS and some people started making noise that some of them have not gone to school like my friend Mohamed Echesa. I want to tell them that Echesa will perform better than those previous ministers who can only be shine on papers but lack performance.,” said Sudi.
He added that even him, people said he was illiterate but he is working very well.
“I heard some people say Echesa will not work. Skills comes in different ways but I want to to assure you that he will perform more than his predecessor. You also heard that Sudi did not go to school, the same thing they are saying to my friend Echesa,” said Sudi during the burial of Bellah Kemboi, the elder brother of Asbel Kiprop.
The legislature rubbished those individuals throwing stones to the CS believing he can work better than those professors since he is still a youth.
“We don’t want people who speak too much English but no work to show us. In Kenya, we need people who can sacrifice their time and plan for the future of this country,’ concluded Sudi by urging athletes to talk to him concerning their grievances since Echesa is his personal friend.
He spoke hours after Echesa took over the office from out going CS Hassan Wario. Echesa pledged to dismantle cartels in the Ministry responsible for corruption and misappropriation of funds.
“Whether you are a Muslim or a Christian, any wrongdoing will be met with equal force,” the new minister warned as he took over office.
“I come to this office fully aware of the great weight put on me to lead the Sports and Heritage sector to the next level of success. I’m arriving here not as a ‘Mr. Fix It’ but as a team player who shall readily rely on the spirit of team work.
Wario, called on Echesa to continue with the projects he had started, including the renovation and construction of new stadia across the country.
