Mombasa, 3K to battle for promotion slots

Mombasa United and 3K will be battling for an automatic Kenya Premier League promotion as National Super League (NSL) comes to an end tomorrow.

With Migori Youth already promoted to the top flight football after winning the NSL title, there is one chance for the second placed team to automatically qualify with third placed going for the play off against third last team in the premier league.

With an impressive campaign, Mombasa now second on the table with 75 points and 3K on 76 points, they both have a chance to secure promotion.

With one round of matches remaining, Mombasa United sit third in the standings, five points behind league leaders Migori Youth and just one point behind second-placed 3K FC.

Mombasa United have transformed their home ground into a fortress, winning 17 matches and drawing only twice throughout the season. No team has managed to beat them on their own turf.

Head coach Peter Okidi echoed those sentiments, describing the unbeaten home run as a major achievement for the players, supporters and the wider coastal football fraternity.
