Jonathan Wambua qualified to compete at the semifinals of 200m after Loice Nyanchoka Morara failed to shine at the ongoing World under 20 athletics championships at the Kasarani stadium.
Wambua finished sneaked into the men’s 200m semi-finals finishing third in personal best of 21.43 in the third heat that was won by Jamaican Bryan Levell (20.90) with Uganda’s Tarsis Orogot timing 21.28 for second.
After qualifying, Wambua said “My only hope was to qualify after competing with the best and strong opponents. Making it to the semi-finals is an achievement.”
Nut Morara failed to proceed in the women’s 200m after finishing 7th in heat one timing 25:17 seconds.
