Two time champions Morocco will be chasing their third African Nations Championships (CHAN) title set for Saturday against Madagascar following their victory over defending champions Senegal at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
The Atlas Lions won 5-3 during penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time to book a final batch against Madagascar who beat Sudan 1-0 in Tanzania.
Morocco, who won the titles in 2018 and 2020 will have an opportunity to win the title and dominate the continent after coming from a goal down to stun defending champions.
Lions of Teranga scored through Joseph Layousse first to give Seenegal the lead in the 16th minute before Sabir Bougrine leveled for Atlas Lions to level the score at 1-1 to force the match into extra time, where no goals were recorded then they headed into shootouts.
Morocco converted all five penalties while Senegal missed one from Seyni Ndiaye.
