Motorsport family mourns driver Kinyanjui

Kenya’s motorsport are mourning the death of Autocross driver Arthur Kinyanjui.

Popularly called AK 47, due to his love for car number 47, also the short form AK referring to the initials of his name.

 Arthur the autocross driver is the son of Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri who died today morning with COVID-19 related complications.

Kinyanjui, a Safari Rally enthusiast, has competed in the races using his Subaru Impreza WRX.

In 2009, Kinyanjui was one of Kenya’s youngest top drivers when he competed against veterans such as Ian Duncan in the Kenya National Autocross Championship in which he came third.

In 2011, he took part in the KCB Safari Rally, making him one of the youngest drivers to participate in the prestigious event.

“It’s hard to accept that you are gone. RIP my last born Son Arthur Kinyanjui Kimani,” MP Ngunjiri wrote on his Facebook page on Monday morning, March 1.
