Mount Kenya relegated as KCB, Sony wins

Struggling Mount Kenya United has finally been relegated to National Super league after losing today’s Kenya Premier League (KPL) match to Sony Sugar at Machakos stadium.

The former Nakumatt team fell 2-3 to sugar millers to become the first team to be relegated with four matches to go.

Derrick Otanga scored a brace with another goal from Solomon Omollo for Sony before Brian Nyakan pulled back a consolation.

At Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) extended their win with a 2-3 win FKF Shield Cup winners Kariobangi Sharks.

Ezekiel Odera opened the score for the bankers when he converted a penalty in the 10th minute before Duke Abuya restored parity with a 53rd penalty but substitute Crispinus Onyango restored KCB’s lead in 61st minute for 1-2 lead and scored his brace four minutes later.

George Abege netted the second for Sharks in the 88th minute but it was too late to recover.

In Bungoma, Sofapaka came from a goal down to draw against their hosts Nzoia Sugar at Bukhungu stadium.

Following their 1-0 win against champions Gor Mahia in the mid-week encounter, Nzoia went ahead through Patrick Otieno in the 28th minute but Umaru Kasumba equalized earned his team a point.
