Mulama in Kenya Strokeplay early lead at Vipingo Ridge

Golf Park’s Sammy Mulama started well at the Kenya Amateur Strokeplay, the Kenya Amature Golf championships (KAGC) series at the par 72 Vipingo Ridge Golf Resort in Kilifi County.

The four day tournament teed off today with the champion on Sunday earning a direct ticket for Magical Kenya Golf Championships.

Mulama fired two over par 74 to take an overnight in round one ahead of tomorrow’s second round leading Vet Lab’s Isaac Makokha with three over par 75 and Ruiru’s Bernard Omondi was third with four over par 76.

Title defending Champion Adel Balala from Nyali Club and Kenya’s leading amateur Jay Sandhu of Muthaiga Golf Club are also among the players who will be battling to win this prestigious trophy.

The players will be contesting for Kenya Amateur Golf Championship points, World Amateur Golf Ranking points and the overall prize money of Kshs. 115,000 which is the maximum limit for amateurs. The winner also gets an automatic entry to the 2023 Magical Kenya Open subject to meeting the DP World Tour requirements.
