Adarsh Shah won the eighth series of Multichoice, DSTV golf tournament with a single shot held on Saturday at the par 71 Eldoret golf course.
With his continues play, handicap 10 golfer shot a blank in the opening nine but that did not dampen his spirit to emerge top.
Celebrating his 24th birthday and enjoying on home turf, a blank on par four hole three had been proceeded by a bogey on hole one par five followed by a par on par three. But after shooting the blank, he redeemed his swing, settled for a bogey in the next hole four par four and extended the lead with pars to end the opening nine with 19 points.
After learning a lesson in a hard way, Shah had a bogey on par four, hole ten, double bogey in the following hole, played subsequent four pars, a bogey before shooting a birdie on par five hole 18 for a total of 20 stable ford points.
“I shot a blank but tha motivated me to play well with a relaxed mind that led me to the win. Although the greens were very fast, I had good putting and with little chipping made it easy for my win,” said Shah.
He beat Jackson Kiprono to second with a single shot on 38 points. Playing handicap 21, Kiprono played identical 19 points in each nine to ensure his place on the podium before Benjamin Chemwolo sealed the podium with 37 stable ford points.
Chemwelo beat club mates Jane Koech and Captain Moses Tanui on count back after they registered 37 points each for top five positions as former Moi Teaching and referral Hospital Director John Kibosia ended the top six finishers.
Shah was on the podium again for the first nine prize with 19 points while Nathan Tororei won the second nine prize with 20 points.
Longest hitters James Komen and Mani Sagoo won the men’s and women’s longest drive prizes on hole 10, as match as G.S Matharu was rained on in the evening alongside Nilesh Shah, immediate chairman Vandeep Sagoo, found solace when he took home the nearest to the pin prize on hole number two.
