Reigning Honolulu marathon champion Margaret Muriuki won the 35th edition of Los Angeles marathon ran today in the United States of America.
As John Langat finishes second in men’s race behind ethiopia’s Bayelign Teshager.
Muriuki won the women’s title in 2:29.27 ahead of Almaz Negede in 2:32.28 to destroy a 1-2 finish for Kenyans as Jane Kibii clocked 2:36:04 for third.
But kenya’s John Langat lost the title to Ethiopia’s Bayelign Teshager to end Kenya’s dominance in the last six years.
Teshager won the title with a course record of 2:08:26 with Langat coming second in 2:08:43 with three time Amsterdam marathon champion Wilson Kwambai Chebet ending the podium in 2:09:16 with Kenyans taking all the top 10 places save for first place
