National Cross country championships cum trials launched

Athletics Kenya national Cross country championships cum national trials for this year’s world cross country championships was launched today in Eldoret.

The Eldoret event turned into a marketing strategy as Athletics Kenya in conjunction with Uasin Gishu County launched the national cross country cum national trials to be held on 23rd February at Eldoret Sports Club.

As title sponsor Lotto foundation donated a cheqwue worthy kshs 10 million.

For the first time, national cross country trials are being staged outside Kenyan capital, Nairobi, will be sponsored by Lotto Foundation to a tune of ten million shillings.

A.K president jack Tuwei and Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago took to the streets, running across the entire town to mobilise fans to turn out for the championships.

After launching the championships at the governor’s office, they then took to the streets causing a traffic snarl up within the town.

At the same time, A.K launched the official programme of the championships and a number of athletes to compete.

“We are marketing our championships ourselves and running on the road is a way of ensuring that we create total awareness to the host county,” said Tuwei.
