NOC-K bless Olympic Games marathon team

Marathon team for this year’s Olympic Games received a short in the arm in their preparations to compete for the country.

Today, the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) presented a one million cheque ahead of the Summer Games.

Led by NOC-K President Paul Tergat, he urged the marathon team to remain steadfast for the games.

Tergat promised more support for the team that consists of eight athletes, four each in the men’s and women’s category.

This week, Athletics Kenya named Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, world marathon bronze medalist Amos Kipruto, Boston and Chicago marathon champion Lawrence Cherono and London marathon runners up Vincent Kipchumba will lead Kenyan contingent.

World marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei leads world marathon champion Ruth Chepngetich, former London marathon champion Vivian Cheruiyot and half marathon world record holder Peres Jepchirchir.

Chepngetich who received the cheque on behalf of her compatriots said the kitty is a massive boost as they step up their training for the global extravaganza.”
