The National Olympic Committee of Kenya yesterday provided kit to the National Men’s Rugby 15’s team ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup Africa qualifiers slated for July 1-10 in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, France.
The event, held at the National Olympic Committee of Kenya Offices saw NOC-K Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Shoaib Vayani officially present the team with the kit provided on behalf of the organization.
Shoaib encouraged the Simbas to keep working hard and put in their best effort as they carried the hopes of Kenyans. He wished them all the best.
“We are very happy to present the Simbas with kit and travel bags as they go out to France for the qualifiers. The team has been training well and we are confident they have all it takes to take Kenya to the Rugby world cup”, Shoaib remarked.
The Simbas, looking to make a debut at the Rugby World Cup will play neighbors Uganda in the quarterfinals fixture on the 2nd of July and the team is optimistic to make it past the Cranes in the East African affair.
Speaking during the presentation, Team Captain, Dan Sikuta exuded confidence in his team.
“The team has been preparing well since November last year and I believe we will come back with positive results. We have done our homework very well because we know it’s a knockout stage and we are putting in a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure we are there for the World Cup next year”, Said Sikuta.
The team, which consists of a contingent of 40 players and officials is set to jet out of the country for the qualifiers today (Tuesday) night.
