Two time Olympic Games 5,000m silver medalist Hellen Obiri will be chasing the Bengaluru 10km title in two weeks’ time in India.
The race set for 15th May 2022 will attract top runners from across the world with Obiri seeking to continue from where she left when she ran the 10th fastest-ever time for women’s half marathon.
The two-time world 5,000m champion, who has switched to run running won the Istanbul Half Marathon last month in 64:48 ahead of Ethiopian duo of Tsehay Gemechu and Bekelech Gudeta as they chase the course record held by the late Agnes Tirop at 31:19 set in 2019.
She will be renewing her battle with former world cross country champion Irene Chepet Cheptai who finished second at the Prague Half Marathon in 67:16.
Former world half marathon record holder Kibiwott Kandie will lead Kenyan contingent and will be up against double world 5,000m champion Muktar Edris of Ethiopia, Muktar Edris and world U20 3,000m champion Tadese Worku amongothers.
