Okutoyi retain titles as Shah wins men’s Kenya Open tennis title

Former Wimbledon doubles champiuon Angella Okutoyi defeated Tanzanian Shana Mao to retain the Kenya Open Tennis Open during the finals played yesterday at the Nairobi club.

Top seed Okutoyi proved to be the best against the Tanzanian

“I am not happy with how I played but it was really nice playing with Okutoyi. I did not even have a chance to hit a ball sometimes but I cannot complain because she is really good. I was actually nervous playing her,” said Okutoyi.

Mao said: “Overall, my game improved in each game that I played and I am really happy with that. The final could have been better but I am happy with how the tournament went.

She also teamed up with her twin sister Roselinda Asumwa to win the women’s Doubles title.

Okutoyi and Asumwa edged out Tanzanian pair of Mao and Ester Nankulange.

Kenyan kael Shah was the men’s winner against top seed Albert Njogu in an all Kenyan finals in 2-6, 3-6.
