Okwiri returns into the ring against Munoz

Africa middle weight boxing champion Raytn Okwiri will be taking on Colombia’s Fidel Monterrosa Munoz on Saturday in the USA.

The Kenya Okwiri (6-0-1) will be returning into the ring against Munoz (39-25-1) in an eight round non-title fight in Portland Maine.

He first landed in Cancun, Mexico for intensive physical conditioning training with Namibia’s Walter Kautondokwa before moving to Boston for sparring camp.

Okwiri is not shaken by the record of his Columbian opponent Fidel Munoz who has won 39 fights, lost 25 and drew once.

Okwiri, a sergeant at Prisons Service returns after his last event at the 2019 at Nairobi’s Charter Hall, retaining his ABU title by outpointing Augustine Matata from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in a 10-round fight.

Some of his sparring partners in the US include WBO champion Demetrius Andrade who in April this year defeated Britain’s Liam Williams on a unanimous decision to retain his WBO middleweight title in Florida.
