Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga grabbed a hat-trick to steer Al Duhail to defeat Esteghlal, in Group ‘C’ of the Asian Champions League in Jeddah.
The former Kashiwa Reysal player scored three as his side won 4-3 win over the Iranian side to remain on top of pool C with seven points from three matches as Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia sits third following their 3-0 win over Iraq’s Al Shorta.
Olunga scored the winner, five minutes to the last whistle to snatch a point from the Esteghlal.
Estghlal scored first in the 4th minute through Amir Motahari but Olunga leveled in the 10th minute before adding the second in the 27th minute to double Al Duhail’s advantage as Cheick Diabate scored for a 2-2 draw.
Abdullah Abdulsalam scored the third for Qatari side for a 3-2 lead but Esteghlal equalized through Farshid Esmaeili for a 3-3 draw, however, Olunga scored a hat-trick in the 85th minute to seal the victory for Al Duhail.
