Omuodo to replace Murage as KGU chairman

Royal Nairobi golf club Ben Omuodo will be replacing the outgoing Anthony Murage from Karen Country club as the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) as the chairman during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Muthaiga Golf club.

Omuodo, who has been serving as the union’s vice chairman was nominated by his club to replace Murage as his position is unchallenged in the AGM set for 21st August 2020 after it was postponed from May 22nd.

According to the notice by union’s secretary George Gathu, the meeting will restrict the number of attendees to 15 while the rest of the delegates to will participate via a Video conferencing.

Gathu laid down six agenda to be discussed that includes election of new office bearers with the nominations already ended on March 31.

the notice shows that the office of the secretary and the Executives positions will be contested as the current vice chairman Omuodo remains unchallenged.

Omuodo will be deputized by Peter Kiguru of Sigona Golf Club who was also unopposed.

Kiguru has served as KGU treasurer and will be replaced by Njani Nderitu of VetLab Sports Club for the position of treasurer. Nderitu has been an executive committee member for the past one year.

Thika Sports Club’s Ndiga Kithae, a past Thika Sports Club captain and one of the longest serving committee member of KGU.

“All member clubs must send the list of their delegates and their email addresses by August 14, in order for them to be listed in the video conferencing. Besides the election, the day’s agendas will also include the report of the chairman, and the treasurer’s report,” read the notice.
