On form Samuel Njoroge takes three shot lead

Kenya Railways Samuel Njoroge fired five birdies to accelerate him to lead by two shots against second placed John Karichu on the opening day of Tea Field golf at Kericho golf club in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series.

Njoroge (71) who won the back to back meetings: ‘Hippo Pot’ Nyanza championships and Karen Challenge Trophy in Karen will enjoy the overnight three shots lead against Karichu on 74.

He started on a high with a birdie in the opening hole par 4 before he birdied on holes four and eight par fives and parred on holes three, five and seven, bogeyed on 2 and triple bogeyed on 6 in the inward nine.

In the last nine of the first round, Njoroge birdied on holes 17 and 18 pars five and four respectively as he managed six pars and a bogey.

The second and last round kicks off tomorrow at the same venue
