Paul Muchangi targeting Matchplay title

Limuru’s Paul Muchangi will play against Royal Club’s Dennis Saikwa in the third round of Kenya Amateur Match Play on par 72 Thika Greens in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series.

As a new champion is expected to be announced on Sunday since the defending champion Joseph Gathumbi will not be taking part in the championships, with the winner getting an automatic entry into the 2019 Kenya Open golf championships.
Muchangi will be trying his luck to ensure that he plays at the final on Sunday to get a slot for 2019 Kenya Open golf tournament at Muthaiga golf club.
“I would like to be the champion of this tournament so that, for the first time, I play at Kenya Open, which is the greatest golfing event in the country,” said Muchangi.
With two rounds played today, some golfers got a bye in the first round and played against other. Series leader John Kariuki from Limuru, KAGC champion Edwin Mudanyi, runners up Dennis Saikwa, Coronation Trophy champion Mike Kisia were given byes in the first round.
In another third pairing, Karichu will be taking on fellow club mate John Kariuki while Robinson Owiti is paired with Nyali’s Daniel Nduva while Mudanyi, second on the KAGC table will be taking on Nanyuki’s Peter Rimui.
