Eldoret based professional golfer Boniface Simwa will be the star attraction at this year’s Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) golf tournament to be stage on nine hole Eldoret golf club.
Simwa will play alongside handicap golfers from Kitale led by Eliud Weche, John Thuo and Club chairman Andrew Chelogoi at 11:40am in a tournament that has brought together golfers from neighbouring clubs of Nandi and Kitale.
Simwa, who has been championing for junior golfers, said he will be playing in the event as part of motivating future golfers.
“I will be playing with amateur golfers and provide a healthy competition. At the same time, I want to assess the course, which I believe it is in good condition,” said Simwa adding that the event has attracted one junior golfer Nishaan Nathani.
Following heavy downpour across the country, parts of the course were unplayable last month but last week, the club successfully hosted Ladies Open.
Kitale club will be headed by their newly installed captain Patrice Tomno. Who will tee off at 11:00am in a flight with Eldoret’s James Komen, Jeremiah Kayago and J. Mugo.
Others traveling from Kitale include Zack Nderitu, the winner of Kenya Seed Classic golf a fortnight ago in Kitale, Ali Babu.
Host Captain Jack Tuwei will be on the tee at 11:10am together with Tom Mutei, Nelson Tororei and J. Ngunze. Home golfers Jane Koech, Lukas Cheserek, P. Kiprop and then lady captain Linah Shah will be the first golfers on the tee at 8:00am.
