Rayton Okwiri floors Makawa for WABA title

Former Africa Boxing Union champion Rayton “Boom Boom” Okwiri defeated Malawi’s Chikodi Makawa  to win the World Alliance Boxing Association (WABA) Africa middleweight title over the weekend.

The Kenya Prisons officer unanimously earned points when all the three judges scored 100-90 in his favour.

The Kenya’s pro-boxing sensation has been yearning for a match-up against Tanzanian Halfan Hythani Hamza, who has won 20 fights out of the 23 bouts he has fought since making his debut in 2020 against Alibaba Tarimo.

Mwakinyo boasts a decorated trophy cabinet that includes the UBO International super welterweight title won in 2018, the WBF Intercontinental super welterweight in 2020, and the ABU super welterweight title in 2021.
