Reigning world under 20 10,0000m champion Rhonex Kipruto will face off with world under 18 5,000m champion Selemon Barega from Ethiopia and other finalists for this year’s Male Rising Stars Award.
Kipruto who missed the long lived world 10km record by two seconds during the September’s Prague Grand Prix 10km race in Czech Republic won with a course record time of 26:46, missing compatriot Leonard Patrick Komon’s World Record time of 26:44.
The 19 year old runner and brother Colm competes alongside his young brother Bravin Kogei, won the Africa Cross Country Under-20 title in Chlef, Algeria in March after defeating world under 18 3,000m silver medalist Stanley Waithaka, who had beaten him at the Kenya Championships.
Kipruto won the 10,000m at the world under 20 title in a record of 27:21.08 in Tampere, Finland
The winner will be announced during the IAAF Athletics Awards 2018 in Monaco on December 4 this year.
Kipruto and Barega will face off with World Under-20 triple jump champion Jordan Diaz from Cuba and World Under-20 pole vault champion Swede Armand Duplantis.
