Golf Park’s Josephat Rono fired four over to take a one shot lead at the Sigona Bowl golf tournament, the first leg of 2021 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) on par 72 Sigona Golf Club.
Rono, who sunk five over par 77 in the first round returned with good fortunes with a one under par 71 for a total of four over par 148 in the 36 hole event ahead of tomorrow’s final 18 hole in the 54 hole tournament.
He leads Limuru’s Paul Muchangi with a point after firing five over par 149 Royal’s Mike Karangi six over par 150 completed the podium.
It was a disappointment for round one winner Jay Sandhu who dropped to 7th with nine over 153. Sandhu took the lead with level par in the first 18 hole round.
The third and final round will take place on Sunday morning.
Besides the KAGC series points, the event which is marking its 62nd year, also counts towards the World Amateur Ranking.
