Ruth Chepngetich and Felix Kimutai won the Istanbul marathon women and men titles with course records in Italy today.
Chepngetich defended her title bringing down her own course record that she set during the 2017 edition that stood at 2:28.06 that had been set in 2012 by Koren Jelela from Ethiopia when she lowered it to.
In men’s category, Kimutai ran away with course record of 2:10.34 that he got when he won the warsaw marathon in 2017. He defeated defending champion former Kenyan now French Citizen Abraham Kiprotich and Marius Kimutai who was poised by pudits to lift this year’s crown.
He won in 2:09.57 that was set in 2010 by Vincent Kiplagatahead of Abdi Ibrahim Abdo who crossed the line in 2:10.37 with the defending champion who came to this race with a personal best of 2:08.33 that he got in 2013 at Daegu, closing the top three places in 2:10.55.
Kimurer and Kendagor crossed the finish line in fourth and fifth in 2:11.08 and 2:11.46 respectively.
