Rutto to spearhead Kimumu to greater heights as school games kick off

Brenda Kadi Rutto will be seeking to improve to scale the heights of her new school, Kimumu in handball when the schools games kicks off on Friday morning.

The former kalyet boys handball coach was moved to Kimumu high school and will be leading the school at the Moiben Sub County school championships in Uasin Gishu County that will be staged at the University of Eldoret pavilion.

The two day event has attracted eight schools grouping into two pools.

Rutto is optimistic she has had a good curve as she sets her focus on maintaining her status in the handball sport.

“I am new in this school but we have set great strides to ensure that the school performs well at the championships. As a serving secretary of the sub county, I have an obligation to ensure that my school performs well,” she said.

“For us to qualify to the county level, it means a lot to the school and the players who have already had a lesson that will help them improve on the pitch,” she said.

In a fixture she released on Thursday, Kimumu lies in pool B UOE, Kipsanu and Ngoisa while pool A has Moiben, her former school kalyet, Chebisaas and Koitoror.

With a competitive county championship, Rutto has set her eyes on playing at the regional level.

“We are taking our training a notch higher. We have introduced weights and changed the gas training terrain. The boys will easily keep up with a game of over 20 minutes. We are working our way out to ensure that we get to the regional as we aim for a bigger picture,” said Rutto

In handball girls, Ngoisa, Sosiot, Kapsiliot and Koitoror are in pool A while Cheburbur, Sosiyo, kalyet and Kimumu are in pool B.

The schools’ games will include handball, rugby 15s, basketball 5×5, hockey, swimming and athletics.
