sasha and Robert to lead Chess Kenya at Olympiad

Chess Kenya has named a team of ten players ahead of the 45th World Chess Olympiad championships that will be staged in Budapest, Hungary in September.

With the games set to be held between September 10th to 23rd, will be led by former national champion Sasha Mwongeli, Candidate Master Joyce Nyaruai, Glenda Madelta, Jully Mutisya and Nicole Albright while Robert Mcligeyo will lead the men like Martin Njoroge, Ian Mutage, Mathew Kamau, and Elvis Kioko

The federation President Bernard Wanjala said that they have selected the best team in the best way possible.

“Each player is required to attend two stages of the  three-phase national championships.”

Reigning national champion Joseph Methu failed to make the team after finishing sixth. The team is preparing for the All African Games in Accra, Ghana, and the Kenya Open set for March 28 to April 1.
