World Half marathon champion Sebastian Kimaru Sawe will be seeking to chance to win the Prague Half Marathon on Sunday.
Fresh from finishing 8th at the concluded World cross country championships in Belgrade, Serbia, Sawe said: “I gained enough experience in Belgrade and I will use that at the half marathon on Sunday.”
The national cross-country champion has gained experience in the 21km distance after winning the Berlin Half Marathon last year, the Bahrain Half Marathon 2022 winner and the 2022 Rome-Ostia Half Marathon among other events.
In Prague, Sawe, who has the best time of 58:29, will be up against compatriots Geoffrey Toroitich (59:13) and Ugandans Gideon Kiprotich and Maxuel Rotich (60:06) among others.
Last year, Sawe won the World Half Marathon in Riga, Latvia, where he led Kenyans Daniel Simiu and Samuel Nyamaito to a clean podium sweep.
In the women’s race, Kenyans Jesca Chelangat and Vivian Melly will be up against Ethiopians Nigsti Haftu and Gete Alemeyehu.
