Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) championships side Shamas Rugby has terminated the contracts of twins Joseph and James Kangethe.
The duo, who turned up for Kenya Harlequins as well as Kenya Simbas, their contracts were terminated after beating up referee Saidi Kenya in the championship semifinal against Catholic Monks on Saturday after losing 9-5.
In a statement, Shamas said: “We condemn the despicable actions of indiscipline against the referee or any person. We apologies to the officials affected, the KRU, and the rugby fraternity as a whole. What happened on Saturday is not part of our culture and values we stand for. As an organization, we distance ourselves from the events and commit to fully cooperate with KRU in the ongoing investigation.”
“Shamas have committed to review their hiring and evaluation policies for coaches and players and ensure the weaknesses and events like this do not happen again,” Shamas stated.
