Kariobangi Sharks goalkeeper Brian Bwire saved two penalties as Kariobangi Sharks won against Everton in Sportpesa Friendly match played today at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.
William Muluya led team became the first team to beat Everton in a post match penalties following a one all draw in regulations time.
Duke Abuya opened the scoring for the Sharks with his left foot shot in the box as kenyan side went ahead in the first half. On resumption, Joe Williams leveled the score with his right foot shot from the edge of the box after Hornby Fraser was fouled.
Williams forced the match into the penalities following a one all draw. The English based side started on a wrong footing when Williams’s shot was saved by Bwire to give Sharks an advantage but Abuya shot over bar to level.
Nathan Broadhead scored the opening kick as Geoffrey Lemu levelled with a 1-1. Oumar Niasse scored the second for the Toffees as Sven Vidah responded well.
Hornby Fraser was on target with George Abege scoring but Bwire for the second time saved Dennis Adeniran’s to give Sharks an advantage.
Fans held their head head high as Sharks was advantaged with Bwire taking the last and determing penalty. With the delight of many fans, Bwire shot into the roof to seal the win.
Sharks managed to book the Everton friendly after winning Sportpesa Super Cup after beating their Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Bandari in a final match played in Tanzania.
Gor was the first team to play against Everton in 2017 in Dar es Salaam before traveling to England and lost 4-0 to Everton in 2018.
