Former national 20km race walk champion Erick Shikuku, Kenneth Mburu and double Africa Masters championships gold medalists Regina Mulatya won medals for Team kenya at the ongoing World Indoor Athletics Championships in Torun, Poland.
Shikuku won the 300m race walk title while Mburu was victorious in men’s cross country race winning the 8km title in 25:32.07 Mulatya won silver in the long jump after clearing 5.46m in her 45 age category.
Head of delegation Rose Tata Muya said that it was a good show for team Kenya who have shown their resilience.
“I am a happy leader and happy for my athletes and my country. Imagine it is our first time to participate in indoor championship. very tricky. very cold and 81 countries participated and winning three medals is a plus for us,” said Tata.
