Shujaa stun Spain at sevens opener in Dubai

Shujaa redeemed their image by beating Spain in their last pool B match at the ongoing World Rugby sevens in Dubai.

After losing to the USA and Argentina in the opening two matches, the Innocent Simiyu coached side beat Spain 26-12 to finish third in the pool.

Eduardo Lopez converted his own try to give Spain 7-0 lead but Johnstone Olindi made the try that was converted by Levy Amunga, Billy Odhiambo scored unconverted try for a 12-07 lead into water break.

Herman Humwa added the third try to beat the Spanish defence to score a try that Tony Omondi converted.

Juan Ramos was sent off after a yellow card and Shujaa capitalized on the man advantage and Nelson Oyoo set up Billy Odhiambo who scored at the left corner to stretch the lead with Omondi converting for a 26-7 lead.

Spain pulled back with a late try for a 26-12 but Shujaa held to win.
