Shujaa stun Springboks to finish eighth in Hamilton7s

Shujaa, the national rugby sevens team lost to Argentina to finish 8th at the Hamilton sevens that came to an end today.

Handling mistakes gave Argentina an upper hand after Kenya blew the 17-7 lead to lose in 19-17.

However, there was celebration as Shujaa defeated South Africa to finish second in pool B but the win did not help Kenya to quarters as Hamilton 7s adopted a direct semis format.

As the series heads to Sydney next weekend, Kenya sits in 10th position after accumulating 25 points.

The Paul Feenal side defeated South Africa 36-14 for the first time since 2015 at Cape Town 7s.

Willy Ambaka, Geoffrey Okwach, Collins Injera, Jeff Oluoch, Alvin Otieno and Vincent Onyala were on the scoresheet for Shujaa with Johnstone Olindi and Daniel Taabu adding the extras.

In the earlier encounters, Kenya drew 12-12 with Japan and lost 24-19 to England and accumulated their points to 35 points.
