The highly anticipated friendly match between Kenya’s Harambee Starlets and Zambia side Copper Queens has been called off due to coronavirus pandemic.
On Saturday, the Football Association of Zambia, in a statement said that the match will not go on because of lack of training for Starlets after President Uhuru Kenyatta postponed all sporting events in the country last month.
The friendly, which was set for April 24th in Lusaka, was part of the preparations for Kenyan queens to prepare for Afcon Women and World Cup qualifiers.
“Our highly-anticipated friendly match against Kenya’s Harambee Starlets has been cancelled after they (Starlets) failed to get the green light from their government to start football activities. The team however remains in camp as the Football Association of Zambia looks to finalize its next international assignment,” Football Association of Zambia said on its official Twitter account.
