Success of an institution depends highly on the management. And that is what St. Anthony’s High school; Kitale has done to ensure success in its football, becoming the giants in both soccer under and under 16.
The two teams qualified to compete in this year’s Kenya national Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) that will be staged at Hill school ground from 20th July.

The Trans Nzoia based school ousted Chemase from Nandi County and Brother Bousang of Kericho in under 19 and under 16 soccer categories with one goal apiece respectively in final matches to book for the national slot during the Rift valley region championships hosted at Hill school last month.
Rama Salim and Issa Rashid were on target for them to ensure their dominance in soccer.
With such success, school Principal Victor Makanda is optimistic that they will win the national title and go ahead to play at the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools games to be staged in Rwanda come August.
“We always start early preparations and that is why we managed to win all titles beating 13 other schools during the Rift Valley championships,” said Makanda.
The principal added that they have invested much in technical bench to ensure success in sports and co-curriculum activities within the school.
“We have a team that discover, nurtures and tap talents as early as possible so that the school’s culture in sports is maintained,” added the principal who will fund two teams for the national finals.
Under 19 captain Silas Ogana has high hopes of making history at the national level and make it to the regional.
“The team is compact and we know our weaknesses that we will work on to ensure our prowess in soccer. This time, we managed to win the national title but we don’t know how prepared our opponents are at the national level,” said Ogana.
His statement was echoed by under 16 side Cedric Muchina. “We hope to enjoy the same support we used to enjoy at the regions. We defended our title and the focus is now on the national title.”
