Sudan defeated Algeria through penalties to advance to the semifinals in the ongoing African Nations Championships (CHAN) during the match played at thw Amaan stadium in Zanzibar yesterday.
Following a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Sudan advanced to the semis after a 4-2 win and will now face Madagascar who beat Kenya on Saturday.
The Falcons of Jediane and The Desert Foxes ended in a 1-1 draw across 120 minutes, with goalkeeper Mohamed Abooja the hero after saving twice.
Both teams had entered the contest with high expectations, underpinned by mutual respect voiced by their coaches on the eve of the clash.
