Swing to Support

Eldoret golf club will host the Lions Club of Eldoret Charity Golf tournament on 3rd December, 2022,to enable them to raise funds for the needy students that the club has been supporting for years.

The Annual Charity Event has been continuously sponsored by the Late PDG Lion Ved Wadhwa and Pushpa Rani Wadhwa family for over twenty years and contributors can send their donations to the Club via the number below.

With over 70 golfers expected to tee off, the organizers led by the Club’s President Lion Satwinder Sagoo, are set to raise kshs 1.6 million that will go towards supporting 65 school going children.

The former lady captain and also the current  Club Treasurer, ZCP Lion Lina Shah said that the Charity Golf tournament is for a good course and asked that many golfers and friends of Lions support the event.

“Lions Club International is the largest service organization in world and one of our global causes is promoting Literacy. As such we are very positive about achieving our target. We are grateful to the many sponsors, both corporate and individuals that have turned up to assist us.” she added.

THE ZCP pointed out that she had a painting that she had personally painted and had offered it up for auction on that day.

“This painting is so dear to me and the proceeds of the auction will go to the bursary fund. I decided to auction it, with the main aim of reaching as many contributors, from as far and wide as possible and I hope that the club gets contributions beforehand. We hope that more funds will be raised in addition to the auction,” said Shah

Lions Club of Eldoret Marketing Officer, Lion Dr Zeph Gaya requested for more sponsors to sponsor the remaining Golf Tee Boxes on the 9-hole golf course.

“We are also asking our sponsors to sponsor all the 18 holes at a minimum of kshs. 20,000 but if they have more they, they can add.”

” This launch’s sole purpose is to raise funds for school fees for the children that the Lions Club of Eldoret has been supporting. We have come a long way in raising money for school fees and at the moment, we are sponsoring about 65 children, paying fees from early primary to form four and at times college, spending about Kshs 1.6 million per year,” Said Lion Dr Gaya.

He said that the club has children in five main academics and have found that without constant donations, they are unable to pay school fees because they have exhausted their funds and are not able to raise enough, with the current tough financial times.

“Eldoret club has been very generous and apart from hosting the tournament, they are not going to deduct anything from the golfers’ entry fees, but will refund all the monies to Lions Club in a show of support.

Lions Club is very transparent in its operations and a full report is always shared with the sponsors. We are helping the less fortunate by helping the needy and we hope we shall have a successful tournament come that day,” added Gaya.

Lion Shah and Lion Dr Gaya were accompanied by Club Secretary Lion Catherine Gatua, D.O. Environment, Lion Mohinder Jabbal and Lion Daksha Lodhia among others.

Let us wish them all the best as they continue with their service to the communities that so much need help.
