Shujaa redeemed their image by winning their second match in the Sydney7s, the third leg of HSBC world rugby series after losing to Argentina yesterday in the pool B opener.
The Kenyan side beat France by a slim margin of 17-14 and yesterday lost 5-7 to Argentina at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday morning.
Shujaa’s Willy Ambaka put Kenya ahead with an early try with Sammy Oliech missing the relatively easy conversion.
Two converted tries from Jean Pascal Barraque and Paulin Riva saw France take a 14-5 lead into the break.
Shujaa’s response after the restart was immediate, Eden Agero converting Oscar Ouma’s try to make it 14-12. Innocent Simiyu’s charges continued to dominate the exchanges and were finally rewarded with the match winning try from Dan Sikuta.
They will face Wales in a must win encounter at 10.36am EAT.
