Pascalia Kipkoech Chepkorir, the 2012 IAAF World Half marathon bronze medalist has cleared much hyped speculations that she will not be defending her University of Eldoret (UoE) cross country 8km title when the race gets underway this Saturday. Instead, the Iten based road run specialist will be sapping the streets of Valencia in Spain for Valencia Half marathon this Sunday to add her othet title in the 21km distance. With her focus to improve on her time, the 2003 World Youth 3,000m silver medalist said she was on final touches of preparations of training before traveling to the Spanish City. Top form runner said she is ready to compete in Valencia to improve on her 67:17 personal best in the 21km distance. “I have what it takes to take the title and improve on my time in the Spaniard city since my body is responding well to the training. In Valencia, I want to try my best to finish on the podium but majorly I win will be good for me,” said Chepkorir. Having won the Berlin half marathon title in 2010, the soft spoken runner has been consistent her youthful age and last weekend she finished third in the Isaiah Kiplagat Memorial Ndalat Gaa cross country, the first in the Athletics Kenya Calendar of events ahead of Africa Cross country and Commonwealth Games. “I did not run well today because last Sunday I had just run Durban 10km race in South Africa but I have to be contented with what I got,” said Chepkorir after finishing third in Ndalat on Saturday.
