Former Venice marathon champion Angela Tanui and Eric Kiptanui won the Xiamen Marathon yesterday in Siena with course records.
In the women category, Tanui ran with a course record, winning the race in 2:20:08 shading off five minutes off her personal best and reducing the all comers’ in the country set by Vivian Kiplagat’s 2:22:25 set in Milan in 2019
She led a 1-2 podium finish for Kenyan affair when Purity Chagwony finished second timing 2:22:46 as Ethiopian Gebiyanesh Gedamu was third beating compatriot Haven Hailu Desse was 4th timing 2:23:23 and 2:23:52 respectively.
Kiptanui won the men’s title after he clocked 2:05:47 to improve on his previous best of 2:06:17 run in Dubai in 2020.
