Tanui, Mbevi Kiprotich shine

Olympic 10,000m silver medalist Paul Tanui, javelin thrower Alexander Kiprottich and William Mbevi relived Nyayo Stadium following their victory.

Experienced Tanui, who has competed in all championships across brushed off former First lady half marathon winner Wilfred Kimitei to win the 10,000m title.

The three-time world 10,000m bronze medalist won in 28:06.90 ahead of Nathan Lagat to the second position in 28:22.28 and Charles Yosei Muneira (28:26.77) for podium positions as Rhinex was in 4th position.

World champion runner Mbevi won the 400m hurdles in 51.27 ahead of Nicholas Chirchir (51.46) and Edward Nginjiri (51.90).

In absence of former world javelin champion Julius Yego, Alexander Kiprotich threw a distance of 76:71 to win the title. Kiprotich had two throws after missing second, third. 4th and 6th with his first throw becoming the winning throw.

he defeated Polish international Hubert Chmielak (75.45) and Belgium’s Timothy Herman in third in 75.18.
