Kenya team, for both men and women have qualified in men and mixed relays set for next month’s World Athletics championships in Budapest, Hungary.
In men, they all qualified in the 4x400m as well as the 4x400m mixed relay as they await for the final confirmation from World Athletics to know their fate, according to Athletics Kenya (AK) President, Jack Tuwei.
According to World Athletics, the top eight ranked teams get a direct ticket while the next eight get invitations to the championships.
The mixed relay team– comprising Commonwealth Games 800m champions Mary Moraa, Wycliffe Kinyamal, Bonface Mweresa, and Naomi Korir boasts of 3:14.61—a time set during the national championships in June.
Hopes for the mixed relay team to scale up the world rankings were shattered on Saturday when they were disqualified at the True Athletes Classics Meeting in Leverkusen, Germany.
The quartet was ruled out of their race after breaching the Technical Rule (TR) 24.19 for beginning the race outside the takeover zones.
