Thika Queens were crowned the champions of Kenya Women Premoer League during the finals played today at the Nakuru ASK showground in Nakuru.
Coming from Zone A, Thika, which finished the league unbeaten defeated Gaspo Women 3-0 to seal their first title win after snatching from Vihiga Queens who lost in the semifinals to Gaspo.
Essie Akida bagged a brace as Rachel Muema scored a goal for the win. Muema was on target first for the champions in the 38th minute before Akida doubled the lead in the 57th before sealing her brace in the 65th minutes.
It was another great how for Thika Queens striker Mwanahalima ‘Dogo’ Jereko who was named the Best Player of the Season with the Golden Boot with 21 goals.
Gaspo finished second in Zone A with 31 points retained the same position as that of 2019 finalists to Vihiga.
