Thuo wins Kenya Seed Classic title on countback in Kitale

Home golfer John Thuo won the Kenya Seed Classic Golf tournament played on par 73 Kitale Golf club.

Thuo defeated former captain Patrice Tomno on count back to win the title, taking home a jersey Heifer.

The two day event that attracted golfers from Uganda ended today with Thuo carding 136 nett.

“It was a good tournament and the win was well planned after good training. I must say that the dry green posed a challenge in putting but I managed to handle the pressure to win the title,” said Thuo.

His birdies on Sunday, saved the day, beating Tomno in one of the most competitive tournaments in the north rift region.

Tomno finished second as Kevin Nyaga completed the podium on before kakamega’s John Akhonya ended the prize list in the 4th position after losing to Nyaga on countback.

lady captain Ruth Kae was round one winner after firing 67 nett to take round one lead with 87 gross ahead of Akhonya and Tomno completed the podium on 68 nett.

Nandi Bears Peter Terer won the second and final round on two over 75.

Ugandan Ann Abeja won the guest prizewith staff prize going to Ian Kae.

Philip Shiharsy won the longest drive men with Eldoret’s Diana Chemweno picking the ladies prize on hole 18 as Nandi Chairman Kenduiwo Mutai won the Nearest to pin on hole 7.
