Top three is my target, says Korir ahead of Boston marathon tomorrow

Double Los Angeles marathon champion John Korir has set his focus on climing on the podium at the Boston marathon set for tomorrow in the USA.

After finishing third at the 2022 Chicago marathon, Korir, the young brother of former Boston marathon champion Wesley Korir went into training and he has come out to face top athletes at the race.

He will be facing off with world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge, compatriots led by defending champion Benson Kipruto (2:04.24), double Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge (2:01.09), Evans Chebet (2:03.00), Nobert Kigen (2:05.13), Mark Korir (2;05.49), Michael Githae (2:07.28) and Albert Korir (2:08.03) for the title as they cahse to lower 2011 Geoffrey Mutai’s course record of 2:03.02.

“It will be a tough race and my focus will be on the podium. I am not under any pressure to deliver but to remain in line with what I have come here to do,” said Korir.

Korir has kept the name of his family, following in the footsteps of his elder brother Wesley who won double titles in 2009 and 2010.
