Uasin Gishu’s Tumkas Youth and Itigo girls are the new champions of Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom football tournament in the North Rift branch played on Sunday at Marula primary school ground.
Tumkas won by a slim margin against Rift Valley Secondary schools football finalists Chemase from Nandi North 3-2 in a final match played at Moi High school Marula.
David Aringo netted for Chemase with 30 seconds on the start whistle for a 1-0 lead before Sharrif Majabe cancelled out in the 15th minute as Ziko Kombo gave Tumkas the lead in the 26th minute.
Pablo Odwor converted a penalty to level the score when Aringo was fouled in the box but Alvin Kipkogey sealed the victory for Tumkas with late strike after connecting Majabe’s corner for a 3-2 win.
Former East Africa Secondary schools football champions Itigo were the girls winners following their 1-0 win against Kaptagat girls.
Jackline Kemei scored th lone goal in the 30th minute to seal the regional slot.
