Tusker unveiled as Prinsloo sevens

Tusker was unveiled today as the sponsor of Prinsloo sevens, the penultimate leg of National Sevens Circuit that will be played at the Nakuru Athletics Club this weekend.

The two day event has attracted a Kshs 2 million sponsorship sponsorship deal that will be hosted by Nakuru RFC where clubs are expected to take part in the competition which has attracted one of the largest pools of teams in the circuit.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Jean Okech, Tusker Trademark Marketing Manager said that the sponsorship will be channeled toward ensuring the success of the tournament.

“We are delighted to once again celebrate a sport that has put Kenya on the global map and has earned us huge fame and admiration from the rest of the world. Our continued investment in the sport is tied to a noble ambition to support the development of the sport and encourage even more people to watch and play the sport. We are cognizant of the importance of corporate sponsorship and involvement in Kenyan sport and that is why we commit to continue supporting sports in the country,” said Okech.

“As KBL, we are therefore happy to once again show our support towards this year’s National Sevens Circuit through our sponsorship for Prinsloo Sevens. This sponsorship is valued at Ksh. 2 million and is aimed at ensuring the success of the tournament. In addition, and as we have done in the previous legs, through our sponsorship, we shall be looking to bring life to the tournament by providing entertainment to the fans who will be attending. We look forward to the event and urge all rugby fans to turn up for the tournament and cheer which promises nothing but the very best of Kenyan rugby action going by the success of the previous rounds,” she added.

On his part, the Prinsloo Sevens Tournament Director Eddy Moseti lauded KBL for the sponsorship, noting that it will go a long way in supporting the event’s expenses.

“As stakeholders of the sport, and part of the hosts of the 7s series, we are indeed glad to have this sponsorship from KBL which will ensure the proper organization of the tournament. KBL has for a long time been a major partner of this tournament and we are delighted to have them on board once again for this year’s edition. With corporate sponsorships like KBL’s guaranteeing the game’s growth, the potential to dominate the sport on a global stage in the near future is realistic,” said Moseti.

He further noted that the facilities at the Nakuru Athletics Club are in good shape ahead of the tournament. “We are ready for the tournament which has attracted a very good number of teams. Everything is in place and the facilities are also in good shape ahead of the three-day competition. We look forward to providing a great rugby experience to our fans,” added Moseti.

The senior circuit has attracted teams that take part in the Kenya Cup League and the second-tier Kenya Championships.

The tournament will begin with the Age Grading Championships on Friday ahead of the senior event and Division Two Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

This will be the first tournament to be hosted at the venue in the post-Covid-19 season.

The Nakuru leg follows the completion of the Dala Sevens in Kisumu that was won by Homeboyz who defeated Menengai Oilers 19-14 in the final at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, last weekend
