Africa Games 800m silver medalist Cornelius Tuwei and world 3,000m steeplechase record holder were the only Kenyans that picked points at the second leg of Indoor Championships at the Arena Stade Couvert in Lievin, France.
Running in heat one Tuwei finished in second position in the 800m timing1:46.88 behind Great Britain’s Elliot Giles who won in heat one clocking 1:45.49 before Belgium’s Eliott Crestan who finishes third in heat one was third overall in 1:46.93.
As Tuwei came second, Collins Kipruto was in 9th position timing 1:51.44.
Chepkoech, who won the opening round in of Karlsruhe Indoor championships completed the 3,000m race in third position (8:34.21) behind Ethiopia’s Lemlem Hailu (8:32.55) and Netherland’s Sifan Hassan in 8:33.62.
World cross country junior champion Beatrice Chebet (8:42.76) was in the 6th position as Gloria Kite (8:44.51) came in 7th Qualyine Kiprop (8:57.70) in 11th position.
Fancy Chepkoech and Mercy Chepkurui completed 2,000m steeplechase in 3rd and 4th positions timing 6:10.11 and 6:10.99 resoectively behind winners Bahraini Winfred Yavi (5:45.09) and Slovenia’s Marusa Zrimsek in 5:48.71.
In 800m women, Naomi Korir was the Kenyan best after completing the two lap race in the 13th position with 2:06.66 followed by Emily Tuei (2:06.81) as Eglay Nalianya failed to compete the race.
