Unbeaten Cambridge Universal College (CUSCO) will be seeking to extend their unbeaten run when they host Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (Eldowas) in the FKF North Rift branch league on Thursday at Eldoret Showground.
Leading the table with 39 points from 15 matches, 12 wins and 3 draws, CUSCO, plays 5th placed Eldowas who have garnered 29 points from similar games, with 8 wins, 11 draws and losing 4.
Team manager Robert Akama, their main expectation is to win the league unbeaten and stamp the authority in the branch.
“This time round, we want to beat all teams and finish the league unbeaten. That is why we have not lost any match and my wish is to continue playing very well. Our main decision is to nurture talents of these young people and assist them get a bright future in terms of football,” said Akama in Eldoret.
He added that the institutions realized that there are talents among students and though it wise to give them a chance to play football, which is also a tool of marketing the institution to motivate other people to join.
“Apart from marketing and nurturing talents, we also have students from needy families. We assist them to by offering scholarships to get education as part of the deal. Remember all 25 our players are students in this institution,” he added.
To get into the team, the college always conducts trials each semester for one week. Then they select the best 50, give them to the coach and management, who comes up with the final list of 30 players.
There will be a total of four and six matches on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
On Wednesday, third placed Kimore will be hosting Talanta at Chepkosum primary school ground as Eldoret City (4th) play Nandi Hills Boba at Cherunya.
