UOE beat Moi university to retain football KUSA Rift title

The University of Eldoret (UOE) Ladies football team defeated their rivals Moi University to defend the football title during the Rift Valley Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF), formerly Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) title this weekend at Moi University.

The Joseph Pilishi coached side has had enough preparations to secure victory for the team.

UOE Ladies as they call themselves play in the Regional league, the third tier league is one of the experienced sides at the KUSF and will be using such experience to shine over their opponents.

Pilishi said that they have been training and playing many friendly matches in preparation for the championships that starts on Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th October 2022.

“We started training immediately after schools were opened in September. Throughout this, the ladies have been working hard to ensure that we defend the title,” said Pilishi, who once coached Kenya Women Premier league side Eldoret Falcons.

The championships have attracted hosts Moi University, Egerton, Kabarak, Masai Mara, Laikipia, UOE and Moi University, Annex Campus.

On their journey to defend their title, they have had friendly matches where they drew 2-2 with Gene Queens, a barren draw over Eldoret Polytechnic, beating Moi Girls 3-0, won 1-0 over Eldoret Falcons and a barren draw against Young Bullets among others.

“Through these friend matches, we are able to gauge ourselves and know the weakness we had and rectify them before heading to the core of the university games,” he said.

He added that his strong point is in the defence and midfield that have contributed much in the matches they have played.

“So far we have received six teams in readiness for the championships but the fixtures are not out. So we cannot know where to start our matches but in reality we are ready,” he added
