Coming from a running family, Valentine Kipketer Jepkorir broke Madrid marathon course record as Eliud Kiplagat Barng’etuny won the men’s race in an all Kenyan podium finish on Sunday in Spain.
Former Mumbai marathon champion, who was a member of 2013 World championships team Kenya Marathon team to Moscow Russia, won the race with a course record of 2:30.40 that was previously held by Turkish international Mehtap Sizmaz for nine years (2009).
The former Amsterdam marathon champion finished 5th at the Boston marathon in 2017, has the personal best of 2:23.02 led Kenyan Diana Chepkemoi Sigei to second in 2:38:06.
Barng’etuny won the men’s race in 2:10.15 as his personal best in the 42km distance as Kennedy Kiplagat also set a Personal best of 2:10:24 to second as Alfonsee Kibiwott was third in 2:10:32.
